The Trinity - Is Jesus God?
You won't find the word "Trinity" in the bible anywhere. Though the word "Trinity" is not in the scriptures, it represents an important doctrine about God and it is indeed taught in scripture. The doctrine is this - there is One God, and He is manifested in 3 "persons" - the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. An important understanding of the Trinity answers questions about Jesus such as, "should we pray to Jesus?", and "should we worship Jesus?" If Jesus Christ is not God, then praying to Him and worshiping Him are idolatry! If He is not God, then Christianity is a foolish religion. If He is God, then Christianity is the one and only religion that worships in Spirit and in truth.

The bible lists dozens of verses testifying to the fact that Jesus Christ is God. These are scriptural proof of that Jesus is not merely "some prophet". Our Lord Jesus claimed to be God, and this is exactly what the bible teaches. You can come confidently to Christ, pray to Him and worship Him rightly because when you do so, you do the same to the Father. And it pleased the Father that in Christ "all fullness should dwell". Below are a few of the verses proving this essential Christian doctrine.

The Father calls the Son "God" after telling all the angels to worship Him:
Hebrews 1:6-9 - "And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows."

In verse 8 the Father calls Jesus God, and in verse 9 the Father says that He Himself is also His God. The Son is God, and the Father is God. We don't need any more verses than Hebrews 1:8 to prove Jesus' deity since it tells it so clearly there, but there are plenty more:

Examples of Christ being worshiped while he was on earth:
"37 And Jesus said unto him, "Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him." (John 9:37-38, KJV)

"And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." (Matthew 8:2, KJV)
Note that Jesus didn't rebuke the leper (as the angel rebuked John in Revelation 22:8-9), but healed him.

Examples of Christ being worshiped while in Heaven (see also the above - Hebrews 1:6):

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. (Revelation of John 5:8, KJV)

"12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever." (Revelation of John 5:12-14, KJV)

Jesus is distinct from God the Father, and at the same time is God Himself:
John 1:1-3 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

Here is one of the clearest explanations of the Trinity. Jesus was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. We see distinction, and oneness. It also says that Jesus created all things. The Father did this through Him. In this way, as one, God created all things, as it says in Genesis.

Jesus is good. No one is good but God. Jesus is God in the flesh. "Immanuel" - God with us.
John 10:11 - "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
Mark 10:18 - "And Jesus said unto him, "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. "
In John 10:11 Jesus calls Himself the good Shepherd. In Mark 10:18 Jesus says that none is good but God. He is testing this fellow's belief by asking this question of him.

John 10:30 - "I and my Father are one."
Titus 2:13 -
"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"
2 Peter 1:1 -
"Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:"

The Father made Him God over all creation and also allowed Him to create us.
Colossians 1:19 - "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;"
John 1:3 - "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
Revelation 1:7-8 -
"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
1 Corinthians 15:27 - "For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him."

If you don't believe that Jesus is "I AM", you will die in your sins
Joh 8:24 - Therefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins, for if you do not believe that I AM, you shall die in your sins.
Exo 3:14 - And God said to Moses, I AM THAT I AM. And He said, So you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.
The Lord God calls Himself,
"I AM." Jesus Christ also calls Himself this. Anybody that does not believe that Jesus is the great, "I AM" will die in their sins.

Don't let anyone deceive you with empty words saying that Christ is not God or that He wasn't set above us. When cult followers such as Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons (the church of latter day saints) come to your door on Saturday mornings, do not let them twist your understanding of this. He is set above us as our Creator and Lord. The Father was pleased to put Him there.
